We Appreciate Your Help

The Kanata Seniors Council Inc. is a not-for-profit, registered charity, dedicated to seniors helping seniors within our community. Donated funds will be used in support of the following Council projects and objectives:

  • To promote and conduct educational programs for seniors and older adults

  • To staff and operate the Council Café where seniors can relax and enjoy the company of others

  • To promote and conduct recreational and cultural programs for seniors and older adults

  • To provide a travel program for day-trips and other travel adventures of interest to seniors

  • To advise and assist in the operation and programming at the Kanata Seniors’ Centre

  • To provide for capital items which will enhance the utility of the Kanata Seniors’ Centre

  • To work with like minded agencies to promote the welfare of seniors and older adults

  • To speak on behalf of seniors and older adults in Kanata and greater western Ottawa

  • To raise funds for the purpose of enhancing the health and well being of seniors and older adults in Kanata and greater western Ottawa

Unless otherwise requested, tax receipts are issued for donations of $20 or more.

Alternate Methods

Here are some additional way to donate.

  1. Gift Cards. – Buy a Gift Card with your credit card. Benefit: you get the points and a receipt that can be used as a tax receipt.

  2. Marketable Securities. – Common shares can be transferred to a charity. Benefit: You get a receipt for the fair market value but do not pay the Capital Gains.

  3. Life Insurance. – Name a Charity as the beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy. Benefit: Your estate receives the tax receipt and Probate is avoided.

  4. Investment Vehicles. – Name a Charity as the beneficiary of your GIC, RRIF, or TSFA. Benefit: Your estate receives a tax receipt and Probate is avoided.

While the above donation methods are all proper and legal, it would be prudent to to seek independent financial advice before proceeding.
